Hormone Replacement for Women Before and During Menopause

Hormone Replacement for Women Before and During Menopause

Today you have an all natural alternative that can actually balance the hormones in your body back to healthy levels that behaves no differently than your body doing it by itself. Not only does this relieve you of menopausal symptoms, but hormonal balance is beneficial for a strong, healthy body and mind.

What does “bioidentical” even mean?

The word “bioidentical” in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is actually describing the type of breakthrough hormones used in the treatment. A bioidentical hormone is identical on a molecular level to the hormone your body creates on it’s own. Bioidentical hormones are plant-based, sources varying among treatments and compounding pharmacies, and for example at Hormonify all of our compounded bioidentical hormones are created from yams. Only by using all natural materials is it possible to provide hormone therapy that your body recognizes and responds to like hormones it is creating itself to this advanced degree. This is why Hormonify only utilizes bioidentical hormones. While traditional hormone therapy is widely available, commercially produced hormones are synthetic and created in labs.

Why is hormone replacement therapy recommended to treat symptoms of menopause?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is an ideal option for women that are struggling with a hormone imbalance or struggling with symptoms of menopause. As women age, hormone levels naturally decrease and waiting to consider hormone therapy until you’re suffering from insomnia, night sweats, mood swings and any other dreaded symptom of menopause is not the time we live in anymore, ladies. Today you have an all natural alternative that can actually balance the hormones in your body back to healthy levels that behaves no differently than your body doing it by itself. Not only does this relieve you of menopausal symptoms, but hormonal balance is beneficial for a strong and healthy body and mind.

Perimenopause is when we begin to jump for joy and wave goodbye to our period until we look forward and see that menopause is our next stop. Women can notice this change as early as in their 30s but women start perimenopause at all different ages. What is happening inside your body is that your estrogen level is rising and falling. This commonly causes irregular periods and can lead to menopause-like symptoms. It is not until you have gone an entire year without a period that you are medically considered to have entered menopause. Your body does not wait for an official diagnosis to start handing out menopausal symptoms like it’s Oprah giving away cars.

Throughout perimenopause and menopause, some changes in your body occur that make life feel impossible. You might experience some or eventually all of the following: hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings, irritability, increased risk of depression, vaginal & bladder problems, vaginal dryness, painful sex and loss of libido or in other words, losing the desire to have sex entirely. (As if you would want to have sex when you’re constantly annoyed, sweaty and can’t even remember the last time you had a real night of sleep with a REM cycle!) The good news is that Hormonify has a medical team specializing in BHRT dedicated to treating women undergoing perimenopause, menopause and even beyond menopause once you come to realize symptoms of hormone imbalance continue on as we age.

What should I consider when looking at the different types of bioidentical therapy?

We have covered the difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic hormones but you might find yourself curious about other forms of hormone therapy. Let’s go ahead and review popular alternative forms of hormone therapy, available elsewhere using both synthetic or bioidentical hormones.
There are countless ingestible forms of hormone therapy on the market. This is going to be anything that comes in the form of a pill that you swallow and is digested in your stomach. In simple terms, in order for the hormone therapy to work at full capacity, this pill or tablet must be able to survive the highly acidic environment within the stomach. It risks being depleted by the liver before it is capable of properly dispersing the medication to the rest of the body. The effectiveness of the prescription can also be altered by other medications or substances like food in the stomach. There are multiple factors that can sabotage the effectiveness of an ingestible hormone therapy simply due to the likelihood you’re not actually absorbing the hormones in prescription.

A common product used to treat hormone imbalance is hormone cream, such as testosterone cream or estrogen cream. While the concept of a medical lotion does sound soothing when you picture it in your mind, there are a few ways this form of therapy can get messy in reality. The first thing to understand is that topical therapy has an even smaller absorption rate than ingestible forms of hormone therapy mentioned above. Proper absorption varies depending on the location of the body it is applied to and will be reduced by uncontrollable factors such as humidity or a natural amount of body perspiration! Not only are you absorbing the prescription at a low rate, you are only receiving a single hormone at a time with a cream. For example, if you are a woman experiencing fatigue, weight gain and zero sex drive because you have low testosterone levels, a prescribed estrogen cream will not help alleviate those issues. Also, after application there is the risk of transferring the medication to others like your partner or children. Unless you want to accidentally give your husband a dose of estrogen when you hand him his coffee in the morning, you may want to consider your other options.

What has now become an extremely popular form of hormone therapy is the hormone pellet. What even is a pellet? Pellets are compounded estradiol or testosterone pressed into a solid compound that is about the size of a cooked grain of rice. Using a surgical office procedure, multiple pellets are inserted under the skin in the hip area. On average, the pellets are said to last 3-5 months in women and about 4-6 months in men. (Wow, even hormone therapy works out better for men.. figures!) If the dosage is incorrect, the patient should wait until the inserted pellets have finished releasing the hormones and the dose can be adjusted at the surgical insertion of the next round of pellets. This method is extremely invasive and is not ideal for any medical team that wants to work with a patient short or long term, capable of adjusting their prescription based on any symptoms that arise or persist.

Our medical team is extremely knowledgeable about pellet therapy, not because we offer this form of treatment but because we have so many patients that have come to us after unfortunate experiences on pellet therapy. After six months to multiple years of pellet treatment, women have either resulted in testosterone levels off of the charts or hormone depletion because of the inconsistencies that occur during this method of hormone administration. Not to mention the permanent changes to the body that have resulted like abnormal body hair growth or growth of the clitoris. Pellet therapy is not only invasive and high-risk but it is relatively expensive. The treatment alone is high in cost for HRT and you are only receiving a single hormone with a pellet. Pellet therapy is used in combination with hormone creams or medications which add to the expenses as well as the associated risks.

At Hormonify, your treatment for menopause is a personalized, all natural prescription tailored around your body’s needs.

Our treatment goal is to revive your hormone levels to match what they were at peak production, for most women that was usually around the age of 38, before they ever started decreasing. Using an extensive blood work panel exclusive to our company, our medical team creates your individualized prescription that is as unique as your fingerprint. Why would you only treat one or two symptoms when there is something so simple that can help you take your life back? Your prescription comes in an ingestible form, meaning it dissolves in your mouth, which delivers the medication directly into your bloodstream. This ensures optimal absorption without invasive procedures or any risks of transference. Not only is our treatment simple, effective and the most innovative BHRT available but it’s also affordable.
