Coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ-10) is a naturally occurring powerful antioxidant. What makes it so special is that it is the rate limiting step in the production of energy in the mitochondria in all living cells in your body. This biochemical series of events is called the Kreb’s cycle. CoQ-10 is found in many food groups, however the depletion of soil nutrients over time reduces the natural occurring levels in our food supply. As well, as we age, the levels of absorption decrease which makes it necessary to supplement.

Co-Q10 is readily available in the marketplace. The active form is called Ubiquinol which is the reduced form of the CoQ-10 found in the bloodstream. Ubiquinone is the oxidized form. There is conversion between the two forms occurring all the time in the body so it is not necessary to overpay for the reduced form. The oral form is better when taken with a free fatty acid that improves the absorption. The most economical way is taking it with omega 3, Vit E, DHA/EPA or another related fat based product.

CoQ-10 was discovered in 1955 and has been recognized as an essential molecule in the proper functioning of all body processes. Deficiencies exist and get worse with age. Neurological, endocrine and immune systems difficulties emerge if there is a chronic deficiency of these important molecules. Low energy is usually present as well. The amount necessary to properly supplement depends on the severity of symptoms, age and your weight. Hormonify has access to measure your blood level of CoQ-10 and other important antioxidants.

The highly trained medical professionals at HORMONIFY under my direction can assist you in receiving the most out of your supplementation program. Call us at 954-427-7179 for more information about CoQ-10.
