BHRT | BHRT is the acronym for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. |
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy | Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), also known as bioidentical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy, is the use of hormones in treatment that are identical on a molecular level to the hormones your body creates on it’s own. Bioidentical hormones are plant-based. Hormonify’s are created from yams. This is in comparison to traditional, commercially available hormone therapy that utilizes synthetic hormones created in a lab. |
Cancer | Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. |
Dehydroepiandrosterone | Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone that is naturally produced by the adrenal glands. |
DHEA | DHEA is the acronym for Dehydroepiandrosterone. |
Dietary Supplement | A dietary supplement is a product taken orally that contains one or more ingredients (such as vitamins or amino acids) that are intended to supplement one’s diet. |
Estrogen | Estrogen is made by the ovaries and fat cells from adrenal gland precursors. This hormone is commonly linked to promoting reproductive health, regulating the menstrual cycle and improving skin elasticity. Estrogen plays a much larger role in the body such as preserving bone density, regulating cholesterol in the liver which in turn decreases the plaque buildup in the heart. Noticeable on a daily basis, this hormone is responsible for maintaining a lubricated vaginal lining and even affects the brain, delaying memory loss. Low estrogen levels can wreak havoc in women’s bodies, leading to numerous physical and psychological symptoms. |
Libido | Libido is the energy of the sexual drive. This is controlled by hormone levels which naturally decrease as you age. A fulfilling sex drive can be restored and maintained with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. |
Pellets Pellet Therapy |
Pellets are compounded estradiol or testosterone pressed into a solid compound that is about the size of a cooked grain of rice. Using a surgical office procedure, pellets are inserted under the skin in the hip area. On average, in women the pellets can last 3 to 5 months; in men, 4 to 6 months. |
Progesterone | Progesterone serves a main role in menstruation and is essential in promoting conception and supporting pregnancy. The hormone has several other functions in the body that affect our general health like regulating blood pressure, protecting bone health and lowering risk of cancer. Progesterone also regulates mood & sleep and aids in cognition which is what helps you think clearly! A popular benefit of improved levels of progesterone is an improvement in skin appearance and hair & nail growth. Low levels of progesterone can cause you to feel irritated, anxious and overwhelmed which are just a few of many physical & psychological symptoms. |
Testosterone | Testosterone plays an important role in both men and women, though it’s production, levels and roles vary greatly between genders! Men produce about 20 times the amount of testosterone in the testes while most of the production in women takes place in the ovaries. Testosterone has many important roles relating to sexuality for both men & women; regulating libido, sperm production, vaginal lubrication and general sexual functions. The hormone has several other functions as well, like regulating mood and memory, promoting muscle growth and energy, and supporting bone health. Low levels of testosterone can negatively affect sexual function, body fat, muscle tone, mood, energy levels and much more. |
